Borosilicate Precision Glass Balls

Borosilicate glass balls withstand high thermal shock and can mechanically give continual service at 450°F with an extreme temperature limit of 900°F. Very high electrical resistivity and dielectric strength. High chemical stability. Recommended where high temperatures or sudden temperature changes are a factor.
Chemistry
Primary composition: Silica (SiO2), Boron Trioxide (B2O3)
Density: 2.2 gm/cm3
Continuous operating temperature: 450°F
Extreme temperature limit: 900°F
Characteristics
Non-magnetic. Zero porosity. Very high electrical resistivity and dielectric strength. High chemical stability. Withstands high thermal shock. Lighter than soda lime at 2.2 gm/cm3.
Corrosion Resistance
Very high chemical resistance. Superior to soda lime in chemically aggressive environments. Withstands high applied torque loads.
Typical Hardness
Continuous operating temperature: 450°F. Extreme temperature limit: 900°F.
Surface finish: Ground 20-30 RMS, Polished 10-20 RMS.
Ball Sizes
Available in sizes from 3/32″ to 1.5″ in ground, polished or matte grades. Available to 100,000 and 10,000 cleanroom standard.

Lead Times
-
Standard in-stock components are available for immediate shipment. Lead times for non-stock and custom orders are determined based on specific part size, material, and required quantity.
-
Hartford Technologies specializes in high-volume production runs and industrial applications. We have a $400 minimum order value for all standard in-stock bearing balls. For custom-engineered parts and assemblies, the minimum is determined by the complexity and volume of the specific requirement.
