Stainless Steel Balls: AISI 430

AISI 430 stainless steel balls are an economical alternative to 302/304 for corrosive environments. Magnetic properties offer advantages in assembly applications. Cosmetic grade balls readily available. Used in nail polish mixing beads, agricultural and industrial equipment. Available from 1.5mm to 50.8mm in grades 100 through 1000.
Chemistry
| Carbon | Chromium | Manganese |
|---|---|---|
| 0.12% max. | 16% – 18% | 1% max |
Characteristics
Ferritic stainless steel. Good resistance to mild atmospheric conditions. Superior resistance at elevated temperatures compared to 302/304 or 316. Magnetic. All balls passivated. Cosmetic grade available.
Corrosion Resistance
Generally resistant to steam, dairy products, nitric acid and many petroleum products and organic materials.
Typical Hardness
Annealed: Rockwell B 75-95 measured on parallel flats.
Ball Sizes
Available in sizes from 1.5mm to 50.8mm in grades 100 through 1000. Cosmetic grade readily available.
