US Engineering Control for Precision Balls, Pins, Rollers & Bearing Assemblies

Offshore cost advantages. US-led engineering, qualification, and quality control.

Hartford Technologies manufactures precision balls, pins, rollers, bearing components, and custom assemblies for OEMs and Tier suppliers that need tight tolerances, repeatable quality, and cost-effective global production.

We operate manufacturing in both North America and Asia, but your program is not handed off to an offshore factory. Every program is owned, qualified, and overseen by Hartford’s US engineering and quality teams from development through production. Regardless if a part is made at Hartford Technologies Shanghai (Shanghai China), Hartford Precision Products (Waterbury CT USA), or our main plant in Rocky Hill CT USA, you can be assured of 100% quality products.

The real risk with offshore isn’t price

It’s what happens after the purchase order. Tolerance drift between prototype and production. Quality systems that fail at volume. A supplier that’s hard to reach when something goes wrong. That’s why offshore relationships fail — and why they often cost more than domestic sourcing would have.

How the Hartford model works

Every program is controlled by our Rocky Hill, CT USA engineering team, regardless of what plant it’s manufactured at.

Applications We Support

Hartford’s US engineering + China manufacturing model supports precision component programs across demanding industries and applications, including:

If your program requires cost control, engineering support, and documented quality at volume, Hartford’s hybrid manufacturing model is designed for that environment.

Quality that holds at volume

Hartford operates one of the most advanced quality labs in the industry. Every program — whether built in Connecticut or Shanghai — is held to the same inspection standard.

Our quality assurance system covers material integrity, manufacturing tooling, and measurement accuracy across four layers:

  • Dimensional inspection

Coordinate measuring machines and laser micrometers verify geometrical dimensions and tolerances across the full production run, not just sample pulls.

  • Automated assembly verification

Our precision bearing assembly system uses sensors to confirm ball count, race presence, and installed height at 2,000 bearings per hour. Parts that fall outside any parameter are rejected automatically.

  • X-ray inspection

An inline X-ray system images every bearing on the line to confirm all balls are present. Missing a ball means an air blast rejection, not a callback from your customer.

  • Full lot traceability

Every product is traceable from raw material through finished goods. If a question comes up in the field, we can track it.

Certified to the standards your customers require

IATF 16949 certification applies to both our Connecticut and Shanghai facilities — the same standard, held to the same level, on both continents.

Common Questions

What happens if there’s a quality issue in production?

Your point of contact is always Hartford’s US team. Issues are managed through our US quality systems, not handed off to a factory you don’t have a relationship with.

How do I know offshore production matches what was qualified?

All facilities run identical processes and quality systems. Your PPAP approval covers both locations. Offshore isn’t a lower-standard alternative — it’s the same production system in a different geography.

Can we audit the facilities?

Yes. Hartford welcomes customer audits at both US and Asian facilities.

How does Hartford control quality for China-manufactured components?

Hartford uses the same quality expectations across its North American and Asian operations. Programs are supported by US engineering, APQP, PFMEA, PPAP, SPC, dimensional inspection, automated verification, X-ray inspection, and full lot traceability.

Is Hartford a fit for small-quantity orders?

Hartford is best suited for OEM and high-volume production programs. Minimum order requirements vary by product type, but the model is designed for production buyers rather than retail, hobbyist, or one-off orders.
