Drawn Cup Needle Bearings

Hartford Technologies is a leading worldwide manufacturer of Drawn Cup Needle Roller Bearings.

These bearings typically consist of three types of components.  The first is a “cup”, which is formed from flat sheet stock via metal stamping and forming operations into a housing which functions as an outer race.  In addition to the cup, there is a cage or separator which is also formed from a metal sheet. Rollers are typically produced from bearing grade chrome steel.

Drawn Cup Needle Roller Bearings are similar to standard roller bearings except for their much smaller diameter-to-length ratio. They are a very popular bearing style due to their small cross-section (distance between ID and OD).  In most cases, a hardened shaft or pin acts as the inner race. Also, rollers are kept parallel to the axis of the shaft by controlling the clearance between the rollers.

Furthermore, the low cross section design of Hartford drawn cup needle bearings provides excellent load carrying capacity, increases power density, and maximizes product life. Thus, minimizing the space required.

Sealed Drawn Cup Needle Bearings

Drawn cup needle bearings are typically open at both ends. Sealed Drawn Cup Needle Bearings are closed (sealed) at one end and are often used for shaft end mounting. The seal keeps the lubricant or non-pressurized oil from migrating. Furthermore, this also prevents contamination of the raceway areas.

Drawn Cup Full Complement Needle Bearings

Drawn Cup Full Complement Needle Bearings are similar to standard needle bearings, except the design uses the maximum number of rollers possible and there is no spacing retainer (“cage”) separating the rollers. This enables higher load-carrying capability due to the greater contact area.

Drawn Cup Needle Bearing Applications

For a leading manufacturer of hospital beds, Hartford Technologies engineered a needle bearing that replaced a ball bearing, and accommodated higher loading requirements with ease. This improved design allowed for easier loading and a reduction in labor.

Hartford Technologies is a multinational supplier of drawn cup needle roller bearings for a wide variety of industrial applications. These applications include shaft supports for gearboxes and pulleys, valve trains, power tools and transfer cases.

Hartford Technologies drawn cup needle bearing engineers are among the most knowledgeable in the industry, and our ability to manufacture on both sides of the globe gives Hartford customers a substantial advantage in cost and flexibility. Also, our prototype lab and manufacturing facilities are both geared to fast turn-around, and can accommodate major programs with stringent delivery requirements. Hartford Technologies is ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and WBENC (woman-owned) certified.
